HEAT WAVE

When the sun is shining, there’s not a cloud in the sky, the temp on your car’s dash reads 106, and the weather report indicates triple digits for days, you can be pretty sure it’s July and it’s Dallas!  Vacationers here take off to the Rocky Mountains, Lake Michigan, Canada, San Francisco, any locale where the average temperature is almost always in the double digits.  But, if you’re like me, you’re rushing from air-conditioned car to air-conditioned office, to air-conditioned-home. Sadly, not jetting to cooler climes.

So, for all you hearty Texans, and other citizens braving the heat this summer, at Freeman+Leonard we say an ice cream a day keeps the heat at bay.  (Well, maybe someone else suggested it was an apple and the doctor stayed away.) But, ice cream is a treat far more appropriate to cooling off, and certainly more indulgent.

My question?  Which flavor captures your fancy? And your taste buds? If you make your own triple-decker, what scoops do you combine?

Pig’s Milk.  Vanilla ice cream flavored with ground, cooked bacon and chunks of bacon added for crunch

Vino Gelato.  I’m going to Italy this year and I think one of the best ways to enjoy ice cold white wine is a is as the liquid in a gelato slushy.

Fire & Ice.  Cream, Fireball Whiskey and red hots.  Yum!
